Taking a Break

Hey guys. I haven't ran in about 1.5 weeks because I hurt my back. I went to one of those trampoline arena places and ever since then I haven't been the same. I've been icing and resting, but it hasn't changed too much. I'm going to try and kick in a 3 mile run tomorrow and see how I do. Hopefully I can fully recover and start running again!
P.S.
I'm starting a new thing at the bottom of my pages. It's the QOTD(Question of the Day). Hopefully you guys will comment so that I can read your feedback :)

QOTD: Have you ever had an injury that stops you from doing what you do best?

Upcoming Races (Part 2 of 3)

Color Me Rad

Today I am sharing one of the races I am doing this 2013 year. The Color Me Rad! Color Me Rad is only a 5k so it's more like a fun run because it really is a FUN run! Many of my friends have done a color run and loved it. I am very excited to be doing this event.
If you don't know what a color run is, it's basically a race where you wear all white and during the race people throw different colors of cornstarch at you. Some people might not think this sounds like fun, but from the look at these pictures, it looks like a blast to me!

Doesn't that look like fun? I am very stoked for this race! If you would like to run in the Color Me Rad, go to colormerad.com and look to see if they are coming to a city near you. I am running at the beginning of April. I can't wait to share my experience with you guys :)

Here's a fun video I found of the Color Me Rad...enjoy!

Upcoming Races (Part 1 of 3)

Disneyland Half Marathon

Over the next few days I am going to discuss the three upcoming races I have scheduled. Today I am going to start with the Disneyland Half Marathon! I am really excited about this race since it will be my first half marathon and my first runDisney race. I am a huge Disney fan so I knew that if I was going to do my first big race, it had to be at Disneyland. The race is on September 1st during labor day weekend. I'm hoping that I will be able to go to the meet-up but I'm not sure if I will be willing to leave a whole day early just so that I can go to the meet-up. I'm trying to make it easier on my mom! Lol.
This medal will be MINE in a few months :)

One of the really cool things about this race is that you actually get to run through both Disneyland and California Adventure.

The race starts near the Disneyland Resort Hotel. During the first few miles you run through California Adventure  then you head into Disneyland. After exiting Disneyland, you head onto the streets on Anaheim. The next cool thing that the runners get to experience is running through Angel Stadium. The runners actually get to run around on the field.
The starting line.

One of things I am truly most excited about (because I'm pretty nerdy) is the commemorative pin. I collect Disney pins like crazy so I freaked out when I found out they have a special edition pin for every race. Maybe I will be able to collect them all someday...I bought the pin when I registered, just to make sure it wouldn't sell out.
Eeeeek! So excited to get one of these!

All in all, I am completely overjoyed and excited to run this race! I'm counting down the days...
Here is the recap from the race two years ago...

If you are interested in joining the race, you will have to wait till next year! All of the spots filled up within a few days. This year, runDisney is adding a 10k race along with their 5k Family FunRun and the Half Marathon. This year, runners could be put to the test by doing the Dumbo Double Dare which includes doing the 10k on Saturday and the Half Marathon on Sunday. Here's the video announcing the 10k...
Well folks, that concludes today's post. I can't wait to run this race! Make sure you like Run Disney on Facebook and follow them on their Twitter page :)

The Perfect Pair

Running Shoes

Today's post it going to be talking about how to get good running shoes, my personal running shoes, and why I love my shoes! So, first of all, I would recommend going to a small running shoe business, with knowledgeable workers, and let them do tests on you: watch you walk, run, etc. Then they can tell you the exact type of shoe that you need. People told me to do this for weeks, but I was thinking "Ehh...I'll just get some cute Nike's that have good reviews."
Boy was I wrong! I thought I was a normal or "neutral" runner. Turns out that I have overpronation, which means when I run or walk, I roll inwards on my arch. I was very surprised when they told me that! I had already picked out a cute, stylish pair of Nike's that would match my outfit for race day. I was all set. But when a professional told me that, my whole view on things changed. That's why I think it's very important to go somewhere and actually get fitted for a perfect shoe for your foot type! (If I didn't know I had overpronation, my arch was going to become completely flat over the next few months...yikes!)
So, with that being said, the girl that was fitting me picked out some running shoes for me. I wasn't too happy. They all felt pretty nice, but none of them had great colors. They all looked very plain and grandma-y! I felt kind of stupid asking her if they had better colors, but thank goodness I did. She then brought out these beautiful babies...

All I saw was that popping mint color and I was sold! But I knew I had to try them on. I was praying that they were a perfect fit. To my surprise, they were amazing. Better than all of the other shoes I had tried on. I fell in love and bought them right away.
These shoes are Mizuno Wave Inspire 9. They are very light-weight, only weighing 8.3 oz. But, this shoe is also very stable. I would highly recommend this product for overpronaters!

So, moral of this post: get fitted by a professional for a shoe. You won't regret it! And don't be afraid to ask for cute, colorful shoes ;)

Hi guys! My name is Emily. I'm a new blogger and runner, but I also love to dance. A few other running bloggers inspired me to do this so we will see how it goes!

One of the hardest things for me was picking out a blog name! Boy was that difficult. I don't even think mine is great right now, but I guess I'll stick with it. The reason I chose it was because it involves two of my favorite things: running and dancing. My favorite dance moves are leaps and when you prep for a leap, you do two runs (run, run). So I decided that's the perfect name! Let's hope I'll stick with it...
